Skype for Mandriva 2011

Hello everyone!

Do you know that a Skype package already in the Mandriva repositories? Now, you can install Skype directly from the package manager (mpm or rpmdrake) by installing a package called “get-skype”.

This package is accessible for all users (you can find it in the non-free/updates repository). Technically, the package has no included Skype itself, it has a script that will be run after you install it. The script will download Skype from the official site.

UPD: Thanks to our Mageia friends for a package!

It's great that they've preserved the open source version of Skype. This way, people can still utilize the tool even if they're running on a different OS.
polycom ip 550

i am using Mandriva on an x86 PC as shown by output of the command below
[root@localhost ~]# cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.38.7-desktop-1mnb2 (thomas@celeste.mandriva.com) (gcc version 4.6.0 20110513 (prerelease) (GCC) ) #1 SMP Sun May 22 19:38:58 UTC 2011

being in root mode i openned MCC.
i could see the package get-skype but could not install due to some error as given below :
"Sorry, the following package cannot be selected:

- get-skype-2.2.0.35-2-mdv2011.0.noarch (due to unsatisfied libqtdbus4)
"

tauseef,

32 bit libraries is needed for Skype to work. AFAIU, you haven't turned on i586 repositories.
